heller, yes

When I came across these iconic plastic mugs at Unison Home years ago, I was instantly hit with a jolt of nostalgia – until then, I had forgotten about these beloved mugs from my childhood. Now, as an adult, I appreciate them not only for their whimsical, lightweight nature and pleasing, oversized handles, but also for their ingenuity and longevity of design. Created by Lella & Massimo Vignelli in 1964, and collaboratively re-launched with Alan Heller later that decade, Hellerware, as it’s known, rightfully occupies its own little pocket in the world of design. Beautiful, functional, stackable – clearly a Modern Cottage delight. Of course, as soon as I happened upon them, I ordered up a set, and today it thrills me to no end to observe my own kids happily drinking out of them. Officially arriving to the US in 1971, they have been in production ever since using the original molds.
